I finally bit the bullet and upgraded my 12” PowerBook G4 to a 13” MacBook. Was it time to upgrade my accessories too? My old Targus computer backpack case is great for traveling - I can fit my computer, all my tech supplies, and a few days clothing, but I have recently been thinking about something smaller.
Something I had not really considered was a hard-shell case - until I got my hands on the Haptique HardShell case by Uniea (http://www.uniea.com/). Their price $49.95
This slightly-flexible “ABS plastic hardshell case” is finished with a “soft-touch coating”, and comes in two pieces. It was a breeze to use - it took me about 20 seconds to slip my computer into it - I might have done it in 10 seconds, but I mistook some of the packing materials for part of the case, and actually had to look at the picture- by-picture directions which prompted me to remove the plastic corner pieces included for shipping. The Haptique is intended to stay on your computer 24/7. It fits your computer like a glove, butstill leaves stylish access to all you ports, and fans, and even has a little button to push for the battery indicator and a way to view the status lights. And yes, the apple logo shines through.
The case provides great protection from bumps, scratches and fingerprints, and lets me drop it into my briefcase or book-bag with confidence. It comes in 6 great colors: White, Black, Pink, Blue, Green and Orange.
My only real complaint - the small feet on the bottom are made of a plastic that is a little more slippery that the feet on the laptop, so it tends to slide a little when I try to close the lid from some angles with only one hand. Something that I can easily live with for the added protection and style of the Haptique.
Since I have had this case I have noticed several of the University of Miami students around my office using the Haptique. I have asked their opinions, and have heard nothing but rave reviews.
